If you’re famous, Delta wants you. The airline’s LAX Terminal 5 renovations feature a private entrance and amenities for high-profile flyers.

Delta Air Lines unveiled its three-year, terminal-wide refurbishment of Los Angeles International Airport’s (LAX) Terminal 5 last week. The Atlanta-based legacy carrier completed the $229-million project in partnership with Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and the City of Los Angeles.

The renovation includes the addition of Delta ONE, a premium check-in entrance for celebrities and high-profile flyers. It features a private curbside entrance, check-in lounge with personalized luggage and security checkpoint directly from the Delta ONE lounge.

“This investment by Delta is the latest in our now more than $8 billion overhaul of LAX,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Whether by upgrading nearly all of our terminals, bringing in ridesharing services to pick up passengers, or connecting the nation’s second-busiest airport to rail, we’re making LAX a world-class airport befitting a city that is the global capital of creativity, innovation and possibility.

Delta also renovated Terminal 5’s Sky Club to hold 100 additional seats, new shower suites and renovated bathrooms, an updated food area, as well as new furnishings and fixtures.

Other Terminal 5 enhancements include new restaurants with celebrity chefs, and retail-brand name shops, new jetways, a renovated Sky Priority lobby, an expanded ticketing lobby, and four additional security screening checkpoints. Delta also introduced new baggage carousels and international baggage recheck facilities.

Delta’s Terminal 5 upgrade is part of its Los Angeles marketing campaign — “LAX to LUX” — the centerpiece of which is LAXtoLUX.com, a digital portal where customers can learn about Delta’s premium offerings in LAX from curb to claim.

Delta’s LAX seat capacity has increased more than 100 percent since 2009, and the airline significantly expanded its Los Angeles network over the last year, adding service to Shanghai, China, which launches July 9, and increasing the number of flights to existing destinations, including New York-JFK, to which Delta will add a ninth daily nonstop flight from LAX in August.

Meh yawn Elegant lipstick on a pig Let them show some love and improvement to their Sky miles members who have been dealing with their near criminal like behavior for years running a horribly unfair loyalty program barely good for anything but limited partner award redemption. 100,000 miles to Atlanta in coach Ill pass thanks You can dress up their ancient aircraft or tout their vastly improved transcons but for me there is nothing remotely good about flying Delta if you seek a richly rewarding easy enough to redeem program Anyone can earn miles give me a program like American or Alaska where I am treated reasonably well as a program member And while their add it fix your horrible antiquated website and frequently clueless customer service Celebs or non celebs don't want to deal with it either. Ill stop flying and supporting premium Middle East and Asian carriers when Delta runs a really fair program. Probably wont happen in my lifetime!
