Zac Posen’s New Passport Purple Delta Uniforms Are Here

Did you happen upon any pop-up fashion shows with Zac Posen on your last Delta flight? It was all part of the debut of Delta’s new Plum Passport collection that’s landed on flights all over the world (for 64,000 employees) with a lot of fanfare.

The new Passport Plum designs involved two major names in design (Zac Posen and Land’s end both collaborated with Delta), a fashion show in Atlanta, an on-board pop-up event with Zac Posen and, most noticeably, an eye-catching new color scheme: a deep shade of “Passport Purple” that is a noticeable departure from the navy and red uniforms that Delta crews rocked for roughly 30 years.

Posen says that he departed from the color scheme of most airlines because he wanted Delta crews to stand out:

“It was an honor to design for an iconic global aviation brand and I wanted to bring back glamour to the runway while introducing innovative technologies in the uniforms.

“I wanted to create uniforms with all of the best and latest fabrications while introducing new coloring and shapes to have the Delta crew stand out while looking like one team…I am so proud of what we have achieved together.”

To create this look, Posen and Delta defined several new colors: Passport Plum, Cruising Cardinal, Groundspeed Graphite, Traveling Thistle and Skyline Slate.

You can spot the uniform changes come for both above- (Delta Sky Club, ticketing and gate agents, Red Coats and flight attendants) and below-wing Delta employees (aircraft maintenance professionals, ramp and cargo agents, and ground service equipment mechanics).
