Data Reveals Fantastic Aircraft and Where to Find Them

Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-800 lead the list of most popular aircraft and can be found most in Asia.

Flyers who love the classic elegance of the Boeing 747 should consider making plans to fly to Frankfurt or London, while those looking for the more modern Airbus A380 may want to take a trip to Dubai or Singapore. The discoveries come from a recent analysis of the most popular aircraft in the world, completed by air network news website anne.aero.

In their analysis, researchers discovered the most popular aircraft flying today is the Airbus A320 mid-range commercial jet, serving 1,323 airports around the world. Coming in a close second is the Boeing 737-800, favored by low-cost carriers Ryanair and Southwest Airlines. Over 1,200 airports around the world are serviced by the 737-800. Rounding out the top five most popular aircraft were the Airbus A319, the Embraer E190/E195 and the turboprop ATR-72.

When it comes to finding fantastic aircraft around the world, flyers have better odds of finding some aircraft at certain airports than others. The statistics show that fans of the iconic Boeing 747 have the best odds of finding this elusive aircraft in Frankfurt, London and Bangkok. Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) has 210 departures of the 747 every week on average, while London Heathrow Airport (LHR) departs 209 every week. Bangkok Suvarnabhumi had the third most departures, with an average of 115 per week.

Those searching for the Airbus A380 should look no further than Dubai International Airport (DXB). On a weekly basis, DXB sees over 500 superjumbo jets depart from their airport, over double to the nearest competitor, LHR. Singapore International Airport (SIN) came in third, with an average of 122 A380 departures every week.
