Child Sex Offenders to Be Named As Such in US Passports

Child Sex Offenders to Be Named As Such in US Passports
Meg Butler

Registered child sex offenders in the United States will now have to use passports that identify them as such when traveling overseas.

On Wednesday, the State Department announced that it will begin revoking passports of registered child sex offenders and require them to apply for new ones that carry a “unique identifier” of their status that reads, “The bearer was convicted of a sex offense against a minor, and is a covered sex offender pursuant to (U.S. law).”

Good! But I wish the government would just revoke the passports of all felons.

I am struggling to understand the purpose of this. Are other countries going to deny entry to these people? (I don’t know of any rules) Are they going to red flag these people as they enter and have the resources to assign someone to follow them around everywhere they go? (Doubtful) Are these people going to be denied entry back to the US? (nope) Is it going to cost someone lots of money to reprint a bunch of passports and administer the whole program? (yep) Is first glance at the headline postivie PR? (YUP)

Why have a passport or buy an international ticket if the risk is not being boarded to certain (or any) countries ?

So, John, at the ripe old age of 17, has sex with his 15 year old girl friend. Sex offender for life at least under Wisconsin law. Now, at age 50, the anchor around his neck is made heavier. What complete BS. Similar to American hysteria about drugs and, in bygone years, the Communist under the bed.

Zero sense of proportion, pathetic and disgusting. Not to mention sick.
