Charge Your Phone Via Aircraft Window
Aircraft interior manufacturer B/E Aerospace has filed a patent for a window shade dubbed the Solar Eclipse that can charge mobile devices using a built-in, solar-powered USB port. “Super-efficient, thin film solar cells integrated into the window shade convert the high-solar irradiation available at altitude into energy,” said the company explained in its briefing at last year’s Crystal Cabin Awards.

Also only useful if you have a window seat... This would also incentivize airlines to charge extra for window seats regardless of cabin.
This doesn't sound very useful on mostly overnight flights. And absolutely useless on shorter night-time-only flights.
Will it spit out the minimum 1-1.2Amps needed these days to actually charge a phone/tablet?
