Capt. Sully: Cramped Cabins Are More Dangerous
On Twitter, Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger posted a critique of the airline industry’s push to reduce the size of passenger seats, claiming that this effort to increase revenue has made passengers less safe in the event of an emergency.
Airlines continue to make seats smaller to increase revenue despite safety concerns. @FAAnews must require more realistic demonstrations, not just simulations, to prove planes can be evacuated quickly. https://t.co/kVPjbfhbz9

@Centurion: "animistic"? I think many travelers are likely already animistic. Maybe you mean "animalistic"?
Airlines are creating violence in the air and the public pays for it via law enforcement and courts. Packing more people into planes creates anxiety and people will revert to animistic behavior. It needs to stop. Furthermore if the pilots and flight attendant unions can require larger rest areas than the public needs congress to represent them and force the airlines to do what they do for their own employees. Yes those crew rest seats and rest areas are required by the Unions otherwise the airlines would have the crew resting in the lavatory. I think I am joking about the lavatory
