Woman Says Sewage From Plane Rained Down on Her Family

A woman in British Columbia claims that a shower of feces from a low-flying aircraft near Kelowna Airport left her in a revolting mess and suffering with a lingering pink eye infection.

A Canadian woman says she no longer drives with her sunroof open after an unlikely turn of events left her and her son in a stomach-churning situation. Sue Allan told investigators that she was driving near Kelowna International Airport (YLW) in British Columbia last month when human waste that she believes fell from a low-flying passenger plane splattered her vehicle, covering both family members in the front seats of the car with feces.

“We were inundated with poop,” Allan recounted to CBC Radio. “You could feel drops falling from the sky, hitting our face, inside the car, all over the windshield. That’s when we realized it was a plane flying over that had dropped poop on top of us. I had it in my eyes, my hair. There was so much poop.”

According to Allan, the experience was so immediately revolting that it caused her son to vomit at the scene, but the ill effects she suffered took slightly longer to develop. She later learned that she had contracted conjunctivitis in both eyes.

Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) initially dismissed the possibility that an aircraft passing overhead was responsible for the report of a poop shower, but after it became clear that Allan was one of several people on the ground to give firsthand accounts of sewage falling from the sky, the agency quickly reversed course and opened an investigation. The TCCA confirmed in a statement to local media outlets that it was “collecting and reviewing information” about the messy incident.

Meanwhile, Allan told reporters that the ordeal has left her shaken – even after giving her clothes and vehicle a thorough disinfecting.

“I feel they should compensate me for the injuries. What if it had let go in a big chunk? What if it went through my son’s head and killed him? What if it came through my head and killed me?” she told the radio network. “This could be a much different circumstance than just poop in my eye, you know?”
