British Jets Escort Ryanair Flight After “Hoax”

On Wednesday, Royal Air Force fighter jets safely escorted a Ryanair flight to London Stansted Airport (STN) after what turned out to be an erroneous threat to security.

“The RAF can confirm Quick Reaction Alert Typhoon aircraft were launched this morning from RAF Coningsby to intercept a civilian aircraft. The aircraft was safely escorted to Stansted airport,” said an RAF spokesperson.

I use my status to avoid the lines at check-in, to board near the front, and to get a comfort seat on long-haul flights. The "free" trips haven't been worth it for many years. If I must pay for the comfort seat in future, I'll usually go with United again, which has partnerships with airlines that serve my city much better than Delta does.
