Boeing, Airbus Announce 20-Year Outlook

In an effort to keep demand steady for large aircraft in an uncertain market, Airbus Group SE echoed rival manufacturer Boeing on Monday is raising their forecast for plane deliveries over the course of the next 20 years. John Leahy, Airbus chief operating officer for customers, claims that 33,070 planes will be delivered in the next two decades, and that the deliveries will be valued at approximately $5.2 trillion. Boeing also announced an optimistic 20-year outlook on Monday, anticipating a $5.9 trillion market for jetliners. These predictions follow a slower start to 2016 in aircraft order bookings, and weakened international economies have stoked fears that the industry for large jetliners is plummeting.
