Bad Joke Gets Celebrity Dentist Booted From AA Flight

But Shawn Sadri says that his ethnic heritage and political opinions were the deciding factor in his being bounced from the NY-bound plane earlier this week.

He may have made bad a joke, but a dentist to the stars believes that his Iranian background and dislike of President Trump were the real reasons for his removal from a New York-bound American Airlines (AA) flight on Sunday.

Shawn Sadri told the New York Daily News that he was returning from Los Angeles on American Airlines Flight 292 after having treated some of his clients in the run up to the Oscars. Sadri told the outlet that he was seated next to a small boy of Latino heritage who was crying and upset before departure.

In attempt to soothe the child, Sadri explained that he “asked the boy, ‘Are you OK? Are you traveling alone?’” The dentist related what happened next, saying “Out of nowhere, he runs down the aisle and starts screaming!”

When approached by a member of cabin crew, Sadri attempted to lighten the situation, saying, “Maybe Trump is trying to deport him.”

Sadri, who was born in Iran and immigrated to America as a child, reports that he was sharply rebuked for his joke by the crew member, who told him, “Don’t say that.”

Sadri then responded by saying, “Fine, you must be a Trump supporter.” The dentist recounted the rest of the exchange to the outlet.

“And she [the crew member] said, ‘What if I am?’ So I said ‘If you are, you are, but you’re also incompetent and need to do your job. Why am I dealing with this kid?’,” he told the paper.

As the situation escalated, Sadri said that two other crew members became involved in the encounter and that he was escorted off the plane by security.

“I wasn’t yelling, I wasn’t swearing, it was 6 a.m., I hadn’t been drinking. I’m a New Yorker — I’m not going to back down — and I was born a Muslim in Iran. I do think all those things played into it,” he said.

AA confirmed that a passenger had been removed from the flight for not following crew instructions.

He should have shut up after the FA told him, "Don't say that!" I think I agree with Twb3, that Dr. Sadri went too far by impugning the FA's job competence!

Lol... if I was the FA in this story... I would have given the dentist a free snack box, movie of his choice (he picks the genre) and a greek salad to boot! 👏😎

Seems like AA treated Dr. Sadri the same way that Dr. Sadri would treat someone entering his workplace and telling him that he was incompetent and not doing his job - by removing the troublemaker. Far better to remove a passenger demonstrating contempt for the crew on the ground before they can cause a problem in the air. Kudos to the AA cabin crew for standing up this self-important, entitled jerk.

Who knows what happened to this child and made him run away from the dentist screaming... The stupid (really stupid) joke may be only the tip of the iceberg.
