BA to Add Half-Inch to Their 787-9 Economy Seats

A report in the August edition of British Airways staff magazine Up to Speed claims an extra half an inch of space will be coming to the World Traveller seat onboard the airline’s B787-9 aircraft.

While an official announcement has yet to be made by the carrier, Kathryn Doyle, Aircraft Product Cabin Interiors Manager, said the company challenged their seat supplier to “come up with a solution that would achieve parity with competitors and satisfy customers. The result is a seat that is half an inch wider, which we believe will improve customer comfort,” Doyle said.

This just adds unnecessary complexity by introducing "half a hell" to seat comfort. Until now it was easy that aside of JL's equipment (and the older NH ones), the Barbie-Jet was simply on the "avoid at all cost" aircraft list. Easy rule, don't book routes where as 787 could show up. Now that there will be a chance that 787 flights become survivable, this just makes things complex again.

Some basic proofreading of these FT front page articles would improve the professionalism. The headline should be "BA to Add Half-Inch to ITS [not Their] 787-9 Economy Seats" and in the above text "...challenged ITS [not their] seat suppliers..." References to a corporate entity are singular, not plural. (The "Business Traveller" article gets it right but this error is all over FT.)
