BA Offers 3D Surround Sound on Long-Haul Flights

Passengers flying on any British Airways long-haul flight now have the option to listen to films screened onboard in 3D surround sound. The option is available to all passengers, and they can use their own headphones or ones provided by the carrier to enjoy the experience.

According to the airline, the 3D sound is “achieved by taking the original 5.1 surround sound mix and creating a stereo encode which can be used on any in-flight entertainment system.”

I really don't give a rat's ass about 3D sound. Why don't they just give people what really counts? Space, non-duct taped together planes, actual food and helpful/courteous FAs!
