BA Deploys First Chinese Cabin Crew

A British Airways senior official has confirmed that the carrier’s first Chinese cabin crew of 54 attendants has begun service aboard flights from China to London. The cabin crew are working flights from Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu to London, according to Richard Tams, British Airways’ executive vice president for China. These new recruits underwent an eight-week training program at the carrier’s headquarters in London, which included training in flight safety, security and medical procedures in case of emergency. “All flights from China to London will have at least two Chinese crew on board,” said Tams. “By bringing Chinese crew on board, with their understanding and appreciation of the tastes and preferences of Chinese customers, we are hoping to add more cultural flavor to our flights.”
