Australia Airport Fast-Track Queue Proposed

The Australian tourism industry has backed a new proposal to permit airline passengers to pass through Immigration and Customs queues at airports more quickly by paying a small fee. The proposal was part of the federal budget earlier this week, and Tourism and Transport Forum chief executive Margy Osmond believes that the plan is not tantamount to providing wealthy passengers a way to cut in line. “It’s no different to an aeroplane having economy, business and first class … What we have to do is look around at our competitors in the region and elsewhere and understand that some of our most important growth markets, for example China, there is a portion that would like to be able to access premium processing.”
