Are Trump’s Hotels in Trouble?
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s chain of hotels may be suffering because of his actions on the campaign trail, according to reports.
“While the Trump name is a powerful brand name, it may also carry some negative connotation with travelers from around the world,” Kevin Murphy, chair of the Hospitality Services Department at Orlando’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, told NBC News.
Adrian Gonzalez, Los Angeles Dodgers’ first baseman, refused to reside at the Trump International Hotel Tower in Chicago when the team stayed there last May because he “had his reasons.” One newspaper linked the choice to Trump’s negative statements on Mexico in the last few months.
Furthermore, travel site Hipmunk analyzed bookings for Trump’s hotels in New York, Las Vegas, and Chicago and found that numbers were down more than 58 percent for the first half of 2016 compared to the same time just one year before.
Also per NBC News, bookings at a new Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C. have dropped on its online booking site since opening in September.

"Milesandmore" to begin with I am a card carrying Republican, however as a businessman I brought this point up several weeks ago to some friends and frankly would not be surprised as I stated above that a reflag might be in the offering. No matter what some say "it's business" and the Trump brand has taken a bit of a hit. Let's wait until after the election and see what happens. \Just saying
Well, it has been confirmed that they are rebranding, which puts a bit of egg on the fact of the first commenter, eh? It had to enter the calculation that Trump's behavior would hurt bookings. A huge part of the demographic he has engaged in his campaign simply isn't the same demographic that will pay the prices his hotels are geared for and the demographic that will book the Trump hotels are not happy with him.
So difficult for me to imagine anyone staying in a hotel that is owned by such a nasty, snarky, person. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.” ~ Don Miguel Ruiz
Seems like some nasty women and bad hombres decided to stay elsewhere.
@ milesandmore Reporting a story isn't politically slanted just because you don't happen to like it. Your bias is evident...and you seem to think that Trump's slumping polls numbers might not have a possible impact on his brand? Really? Or are you one of those who think the polls are just media liberal bias? If so, then we already know you're out to lunch.
