Angry Dad Blasts Airline for Not Providing Free Water and Chips
Irish passenger Johnny McMenamin was very nearly arrested after a spirited argument with Ryanair flight staff after the budget carrier refused to provide free Pringles and water during a four-hour delay for a flight from Spain to Ireland.
McMenamin’s daughter was the impetus for the altercation – after he claims that she became “distressed and tired” during the delay, he was alarmed to find that cabin crew refused to provide free refreshments in light of the enormous delay, two-and-a-half hours of which was spent on the tarmac.
“I asked for a bottle of water and Pringles for my daughter and they insisted I needed to pay £5.50 ($9.60), which I refused out of principal,” said McMenamin.

HIs daughter was distressed and tired, and out of principle, he wouldn't buy it for her. Apparently the original publication in the Sun didn't have an editor to understand the difference between "principle" and "principal".
Hey pal, you are flying LCC. I never fly LCC because, at the end, the savings are not that obvious.
I agree with the posts above, but aren't they obligated to at least provide water? @mvoight does Ryanair just try and skirt the EU regs? Or do they not apply for some reason? I haven't heard of this.
"Irish passenger Johnny McMenamin was very nearly arrested after a SPIRITed argument ..." The irony of this choice of words wasn't lost on me.
If you fly a LCC, expect nothing for free. You won't be disappointed.
