American and US Airways to Propose Settlement to DOJ

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that AMR Corp., the parent company of American Airlines, and US Airways Group Inc. are planning to propose a settlement to the Department of Justice. According to WSJ’s sources, the proposal “would include offers to give up slots at Reagan National Airport.”

American Airlines CEO Tom Horton has recently been discussing his desire to settle out of court. “If there’s a reasonable settlement, I think it’s better for both sides,” Horton said yesterday to Bloomberg.

Should a settlement not be reached, the trial is scheduled for November 25.
