American Airlines and Air France Improve Their Menus (Even in Economy)

Both Air France and American Airlines have revealed a raft of improvements to their food and drink menus. Changes are being rolled out into the main cabins and include complimentary bubbly served in designer glasses, improvements to snack and breakfast options, and at AA, a Mediterranean food menu.

Air France and American Airlines (AA) have revealed a raft of improvements to their food and drink menus, Forbes reports. Far from benefiting just those lucky first and premium-class passengers, it appears that these changes are being rolled out for the enjoyment of main cabin travelers.

In addition to unveiling more generous seating in its economy and premium economy cabins across its fleet of Airbus A330s, travellers will enjoy touches such as improvements to amenity packs, enhanced onboard entertainment options and some thoughtful changes to Air France’s food and drink menu.

“Customers will be provided an oshibori, a small hand towel provided in the Japanese tradition, and a “French-style candy as little gesture of thanks” during Air France flights,” the outlet reports. In addition to this, travelers will receive complimentary champagne served in a glass crafted by designer Eugeni Quitllet.

In further changes, lucky guests on certain long-haul routes can also sample the carrier’s “Bon Appétit” breakfast bag and its “My Little Gourmandises” snack pack. More information about these changes can be found here.

However, the outlet reports that menu changes at AA will see more Mediterranean-style options available to passengers. An upcoming collaboration with Zoës Kitchen officially begins on December 1, meaning that travelers will notice lighter options highlighted on its economy menus.

Commenting on the new options in a statement, Janelle Anderson, the carrier’s vice president of global marketing, said, “Zoës mission to deliver goodness from the inside out and their ‘simple, tasty, fresh’ offerings made it an easy decision to partner with the fast casual, healthy restaurant group. Our customers have asked for lighter tasty food choices. This collaboration with the expert chefs at Zoës provides an innovative, fresh approach to onboard offerings.”
