American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt Team to Offer Status Challenge

Elite members of American Airlines’ AAdvantage or Hyatt Hotels’ World of Hyatt now have an easier pathway to earn status in the other program. Those who have linked their two accounts can register for the challenge and enjoy three months of elite status with the opportunity to keep it through 2023.

Travelers who currently hold elite status in either American Airlines’ AAdvantage or Hyatt Hotels’ World of Hyatt can now double their loyalty rewards. In a press release, the hotel program announced a new status challenge for members who have linked their AAdvantage and World of Hyatt accounts together.

Elite Travelers Can “Step Up Your Status” With American or Hyatt

The new promotion is designed to help Hyatt elites gain status in American AAdvantage, or AAdvantage elites to gain elite benefits in World of Hyatt. After members link their accounts, they can register for either promotion by September 30, 2021.

For World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members, they can register for a challenge to give them AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, or Platinum Pro status. Once they sign up, travelers will be gifted with their status for three months, with additional details on how to complete the challenge during the 90-day period through flying on eligible tickets for flights marketed and operated by American Airlines or American Eagle. Those who can complete the challenge through flying will keep their status through January 2023.

Those who already have American AAdvantage elite status can sign up for a challenge to earn World of Hyatt Explorist or Globalist membership. Like the American challenge, those who complete registration will be gifted status for three months. From there, they will be able to keep the status if they complete their challenge within their gifted status period through qualifying activity, such as booking an eligible rate or award night through Hyatt’s website or phone booking center. If you complete the challenge, you will keep your status through February 2023.

In addition, those who link their accounts can earn additional World of Hyatt points or AAdvantage miles. AAdvantage elite members at all levels can earn one bonus mile for every eligible dollar spent on qualifying Hyatt stays and experiences, while World of Hyatt elites can earn one hotel program bonus point for every eligible dollar spent on American flights.

Status Challenge Promotion Complements Current Promotion

The new status challenge promotion complements Hyatt’s current promotional offerings. World of Hyatt members can earn more points with their Bonus Journeys global promotion and New Hotel 500 Bonus Point offer.
