Allegiant Air Halts Vermont Service

Starting March 4, low-cost carrier Allegiant Air will no longer be offering flights to Vermont as they are halting their twice-weekly nonstop service between Burlington International Airport (BTV) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). The airline has offered the route since 2014, flying 12,000 passengers a year on it. The exit reportedly comes on the heels of BTV chief Gene Richards’ announcement of new leases with the airport’s other carriers, which, according to Richards, will significantly change BTV’s fiscal stability.
