Alaska Airlines Announces Another New Transfer Partner

Alaska Airlines has been on roll lately, and they’re at it again announcing another new partner. Singapore Airlines is Alaska’s newest partner.

Beginning on September 27, you will be able to earn Alaska Airlines miles when flying Singapore Airlines and earn Singapore Airlines miles when flying Alaska Airlines. Redeeming miles will be available sometime after that, but we don’t have an exact date yet. In the case of previous partnerships, it has taken a couple of months for mileage redemptions to become a possibility. Note that it is very unlikely that redemptions for Singapore Suites class will be available with Alaska Airlines miles as Singapore typically only makes these seats available to their own KrisFlyer members.

Since Singapore Airlines is a transfer partner of American Express Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Chase Ultimate Rewards, this will offer incredible ability to redeem for Alaska Airlines flights. Unfortunately, Alaska Airlines miles are a little bit harder to get ahold of, but this is yet another partnership that makes Alaska miles oh-so-worth it to earn.

I’m extremely excited about this new partnership because Alaska Airlines miles are already one of my favorites. From reasonable prices in all classes of service to stopover allowances on oneway awards, it’s really tough to go wrong with Alaska Airlines miles. And every time a new partner is added the miles just get more valuable!

I wonder of someday there is a plan to "package" all this into some form of alliance? Currently it's like dating, but when your traveling internationally those reciprocal agreements sure add a lot, especially when there are changes in plans. Just saying

According many people, Singapore Airlines doesn't tend to release premium seats (only regular economy seats) to most partners on its flights. So for earning this could be good, but it remains to be seen how if it really makes Alaska miles more valuable or not so much.
