Airport Evacuated After Suspicious Note Sparks Bomb Threat
Bristol Airport (BRS) closed its doors for six hours Sunday after a suspicious note found aboard Ryanair Flight 8297 suggested a bomb may have been on the aircraft. The airport was evacuated and dozens of flights were diverted while police searched the Boeing 737-800, which arrived from Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) shortly before midnight.
BRS resumed normal operations after police gave the all-clear. An airport representative warned of possible delays throughout the day as a result of the incident, but assured travelers BRS was working with airlines to “minimize disruptions to passengers wherever possible.”
