We lost our 15 year old long haired chihuahua in mid-December. It was pretty devastating right before the holidays. The week after, one of my nieces adopted a Corgi/Spaniel mix and I swear that, other than the sex of the dog, she's frighteningly similar to our little guy, right down to the color and markings. For those of you familiar with Doctor Who, I told my wife (since we baby-sit my niece's two dogs a couple of times a week) that our dog regenerated into her dog. It's helped ease, but not eliminate, the pain of losing our guy.
