Airlines to Cancel Flights Due to Union Strikes

Airlines are preparing to cancel hundreds of short-haul flights over the course of the next four days as French air traffic controllers go on strike for the ninth time in the last three months. French ATC unions have plans to strike on June 2, 3, 4 and 5, with further industrial action planned for June 14. Ryanair marketing director Kenny Jacobs has condemned the strikes, saying “This latest strike action by the French ATC unions is a clear escalation of their attempts to cause as much disruption as possible, and not only will European consumers heading off in huge numbers on their summer holidays be affected, football fans from all over the continent face massive disruption as they get ready for the European Championships.” Ryanair has preemptively cancelled 75 flights to and from France tomorrow, saying that further cancellations will be necessary over the weekend.
