Airline Passengers Trust This Pilot Accent the Most
According to a recent study by Jetcost, a website that examines travel data and compares low-cost airlines, Americans are most likely to trust a pilot with a Midwestern accent. The breakdown is as follows:
The 5 least confidence-inspiring accents:
Texan – 65%
New York – 59%
General American – 54%
Central Canadian – 45%
Southwestern U.S. – 37%
The 5 most confidence-inspiring accents:
Upper Midwestern – 63%
Southern Californian – 58%
Great Lakes – 51%
British – 47%
Eastern New England – 39%

Question....WHICH BRITISH ACCENT?!?!?! You're comparing regional accents of the US to an accent that technically doesn't exist, as, like the US, the UK is full of regional variants, even moreso than the US! Jeeeeeeeeze...
About a decade ago I flew Northwest from Amsterdam to Seattle with a Texan Captain who announced 'Good evening Ya'll, we'll be hitting the tarmac in 20 minutes so buckle up and sit tight, thanks for flying etc" and you know what? But honestly, I didn't really care because to get the position he was in as a Captain of a 777 with a major airline I reckon he must have some serious training and experience behind him. His accent and slang doesn't determine his piloting abilities.
