Airline Apologises for Risque In-Flight Surprise Performance

Vietnamese budget airline Vietjet made its way into headlines again when it surprised passengers with an “improvised performance” by bikini-clad women on a flight to welcome home a national soccer team.

But while Vietjet intended this to be a pleasant surprise, most of the footballers look uncomfortable in photos of the incident. Several who saw the posts on social media were upset.

“Do you want to rename Vietjet ‘Vietjerk’, or ‘Vietsex’?” a Facebook user asked of the airline’s CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao.

“Vietjet’s move was so rude, cheap, and offensive to the team, the fans and even its passengers,” said another.

Others declared their intention to boycott the airline over the stunt.

This is not the first time Vietjet’s bikinis have come under fire. Back in August of 2017, the airline vowed to remove bikini-clad flight attendants from flights and only feature them on “specific occasions.”

Although if this “specific occasion” is any indication, their presence may not be welcome during many others.
