Airbus Rallies Fanbase for A380

Airbus has created a website titled “I Fly A380” in an effort to drum up support for the superjumbo aircraft. The website is a booking site that lists all 13 A380 operators, and customers can “present the on-board services they offer and the destinations they serve” as well as read “inspirational information about each city” before they choose their next destination. Airbus has conducted research which allegedly shows that the A380 is passengers’ favorite aircraft, and approximately 60 percent of those surveyed allegedly claimed that they would be willing to go out of their way to fly aboard the superjumbo. “Booking systems today do not allow the passengers to easily choose their preferred aircraft and we decided to fill that gap by easing the access to the iconic A380 aircraft, for everybody,” said Marc Fontaine, Digital Transformation Officer for Airbus.

I never fly the Airbus 380, ever!

My one flight in coach on an A380 was one of the most miserable, uncomfortable experiences ever. Never again. Airbus - putting that "bus" feeling into air travel.

I've been making my preference clear as a customer with my money for many years now. An A380 ALWAYS wins and I'm even prepared to pay extra for it. Both the old rattly 747s, the awful 777s that I hated from the start and unfortunately also the 787s which I find hilariously underwhelming are all not coming even close. Whether it's an Airbus vs. Boeing thing I am not sure (on short haul, I couldn't give a damn whether it's an A320 or a 737) but I'll very soon try the A350 so we will see.

If you click on flight details before purchase you can see which aircraft is scheduled to fly the route you want or therefore the aircraft you want. It's not too complicated.

Funny - flew it the first time (finally) a couple of weeks ago. Was super excited and after the flight I was not that impressed. The upper deck just doesn't have the same feel as that of a 747. To me it just felt like basically two planes stacked on top of each other. Next days flight was on a 777-300 (same seats as the ones we had on the A380) and I found the plane much nicer, just felt wider and more spacious. Before I flew it I would have gone out of my way, now not so much.
