Airbus Makes Emergency Landing After Cockpit Window Breaks

Today, a Sichuan Airlines flight lost its entire cockpit windscreen at 32,000 feet forcing it to make an emergency landing in the city of Chengdu. According to FlightRadar24, the plane was an Airbus A319.

According to video footage taken by passengers, oxygen masks dropped in the cabin and a passenger reported feeling “weightless” for a few moments because of the speed of the plane’s descent. Thankfully none of the 119 passengers on board were seriously injured.

One flight attendant was “slightly” injured. The co-pilot suffered a “serious” injury to his ear from the broken window for which he was hospitalized. The extent of his injuries have not been confirmed by the airline.
