Air Canada Passengers Stranded for 48 Hours

Passengers on an Air Canada flight to Toronto were stranded in Manchester, England, for two days.

With little explanation for the delay, around 200 Air Canada passengers were stuck at Manchester Airport (MAN) for two days this past weekend. Flight 2043 was expected to take off on Friday but the airline delayed the flight without communicating why.

Passenger Melanie Best described her experience, saying that they were able to board after a two-hour delay, but then sat on the tarmac for five more hours while mechanics tried to fix a hydraulic pump. The flight was then cancelled and the passengers were put up in a hotel for the night. The next morning, the flight still had repeated delays, keeping passengers in the lounge until 6 p.m., when they were told that the plane—which had finally been repaired—would leave at 8 p.m.

“At this point, people were crying and disgusted beyond belief,” she said.

The flight was delayed again, canceled this time due to crew issues, and rescheduled for the next day at about noon, when the flight finally took off.

Tracy Hatcher, another passenger on the flight, told CBC News that security had to be called in because the travelers were so frustrated and demanding information from Air Canada. The airline was giving practically no news to the passengers other than delay and cancellation notifications.

“It was pretty rough … we all kind of felt like survivors of some sort,” she told CBC News.

The airline plans to give each customer a full refund.

I am a overseas student, I want to complain about Air Canada. I arrived at Montreal on 1st of June. That day, Air Canada lost my baggage. I went to the service center to tell them that my baggage was missing, they told me that it would be found in the next day. However, after 5 days, my baggage was still missing, they told me that I had to mail a form. I mailed it. they told me that i only had to wait for 4 weeks and they would reply me. however, today is 3th of August. they haven't reply me yet and my baggage is still missing. BTW the telephone service is very terrible. they are always rude to me and hang up my phone call.

Is it really so difficult for Air Canada (or most any airline) to just reaccomodate on another airline instead of torturing people (like they have nothing better to do but sit in Manchester Airport for 48 hours) ??
