An Aeroflot passenger assaulted the crew members of a flight from Novosibirsk to Moscow earlier this week. An intoxicated traveler, Maxim Pashnin, broke the leg of a member of cabin crew during the incident and assaulted police who had been summoned to remove him from the Moscow-bound flight.
A drunken Aeroflot passenger flew into a violent rage when he was asked to extinguish his cigarette upon boarding a recent flight from the city of Novosibirsk to Moscow, Metro.co.uk reports. The incident, which involved 36-year-old plumber Maxim Pashnin, occurred on-board Aeroflot Flight 1307 on Tuesday.
He is reported to have attacked both of the flight’s pilots and a flight attendant in the cockpit as well as two members of crew, one of whom suffered a broken leg as a result of the incident.
The attack in the cockpit was not captured on video, but Pashnin’s assault on the cabin crew members, which took place near the door, was caught on camera. This assault was triggered when a male crew member asked Pashnin to stop acting aggressively to a female member of the cabin crew. During this incident, Pashnin then physically threatened the pair.
Police were eventually summoned to the plane and were also attacked by Pashnin. Commenting on the incident, a member of the local police said, “Pashnin pushed the young woman stewardess inside the cockpit and then hit the pilots, the captain and the co-pilot. These three crew members resisted and managed [to]block the hooligan, and to pass him into the hands of police. The plane flew without the man.”
According to the outlet, Pashnin will now face charges related to “air hooliganism.”
Offering an official comment on the incident in a statement, Aeroflot said, “An incident took place in board of Aeroflot SU1307 flight from Novosibirsk to Moscow on 14 May 2019 due to the destructive behavior of one passenger. Having got on board with signs of alcohol intoxication, the man has violated the rules of behaving on board Aeroflot planes.”
“He pushed away the steward and the aviation technician and tried to enter the cockpit. As a result, the senior steward has got an injury – his leg was broken,” the carrier added.
Speaking of his actions to police, Pashnin said, “It is hard to fly Aeroflot when you are sober,” in an apparent reference to the recent fire on-board Aeroflot Flight 1492 in which 41 people were killed.
