Aer Lingus Offers Pilot Training Program for Inexperienced, Unqualified Applicants

Irish carrier Aer Lingus has opened up a program to prospective pilots that does not require any degrees or certification at the outset from applicants. Candidates for Future Pilot Programme will undergo a 14-month intensive program meant to certify them as First Officers by 2020.

Successful candidates will be placed aboard the carrier’s new Airbus A320 and A321neo aircaft.

    Portending a time in the not-too-distant future when a “pilot” will be an onboard systems manager in an autonomous cockpit.

    What a misleading and unprofessional byline. Aren’t all untrained future pilots inexperienced and or unqualified?

    I praise and admire any company that undertakes a training program for future employees.

    Sometimes I grow weary of the quality of reporting on FT………
