Actor Riz Ahmed Recounts Airport Profiling in Book

The Night Of actor Riz Ahmed penned an essay for his yet-to-be-released book The Good Immigrant about the multiple occasions on which he was unfairly harassed for his ethnicity, including at airports. In the essay, Ahmed compares the discrimination experienced at both airports and film auditions, pointing out that both settings have typecasted him repeatedly as a terrorist.

Ahmed recounts an incident in which, upon passing through an airport while returning from a film festival, airport security “frogmarched me to an unmarked room where they insulted, threatened, and then attacked me.”
