A new partnership with PressReader allows Accor to outfit 3,600 hotels with free access to thousands of digital newspapers and magazines.

The Accor hotel group recently entered a partnership with PressReader, a digital newsstand, to provide guests access to magazines and newspapers from more than 100 countries, in 60 languages, for free.

Guests using the new service, dubbed Accor Press, can download their publications of choice through the free PressReader app or on PressReader.com, but on one condition—the download must begin on the hotel’s Wi-Fi network. Accor hotels usually have a fee for in-room Wi-Fi usage, so guests wishing to use the PressReader service should consider initiating the downloads in their hotel’s common areas, where Wi-Fi is available for free.

Silver, Gold and Platinum members in Accor’s loyalty program, Le Club Accorhotels, enjoy in-room Wi-Fi free of charge, meaning these status holders will have the most convenient access to the new service. Accor owns more than 3,600 hotels across 92 countries, and Accor Press is available for use at every property.

David Esseryk, the vice president of consumer technologies at Accor, hopes that this partnership will not only allow international travelers to have a better grasp on news at home while they’re away, but also help domestic guests keep in touch with regional news.

According to PressReader CCO Igor Smirnoff, the partnership with Accor is just the latest in a series of partnerships allowing the company to boost the standards of international hotel amenities.
