50 Domestic Sky Clubs Using Fingerprint Scanning

Delta Air Lines confirmed on Monday that biometric technology is in use at 50 different Delta Sky Clubs in the United States, using fingerprint-scanning to grant admission to airport lounges. The program, Delta Biometrics, has not fully replaced boarding passes as a form of identification at these Sky Clubs, but is part of a larger push on the part of several carriers to introduce wider implementation of biometric systems.

Delta COO Gil West confirmed to CNBC that the carrier was considering several untapped technologies in an effort to expedite the travel process for flyers, including voice recognition technology.

CLEARme is a great system.. sadly, this article refers to a Delta product when it in fact is a separate company.

It's linked with Clear.... which allows biometric access to flights... It's used as a means of convenience - much easier to scan fingers than fumble with multiple paper boarding passes or having to dig out your cellphone to get in. Used it in ATL and DCA and works great.
