If you think a spooky location is the only place to get a terrifying thrill, think again. We’ve compiled a list of the top ten haunted luxury hotels in the world—so you can get scared in style.
The 1886 Crescent Hotel, Eureka Springs, Arkansas

A morgue in the basement, a former cancer hotel that handed out bunk treatments and saw the deaths of many patients, and previously a school where some of the female students died… this hotel has it all. It’s said to be haunted by a number of spirits, including an ethereal cat.
Fairmont Banff Springs, Alberta, Canada

A supposedly secret room with no windows burned to the ground with the hotel in 1926, and spooky noises are said to come from that spot. In room 873, an entire family was said to be murdered, and now the little girl’s fingerprints are permanently on the mirror. A lost bride fell down a staircase and broke her neck, and a bellman died there in 1976—both are allegedly haunting the hotel grounds.
The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado

Better known as the inspiration for Stephen King’s The Shining, this luxury resort is said to be haunted by children who play in the halls and a specter that plays the piano in the old ballroom.
The Savoy Hotel, Mussoorie, India

Poisonings, murders and mysterious deaths plague the rooms of this hotel, and the victims never left. Full body apparitions and moving objects are only two of the many experiences guests have here.
Chateau de Brissac, Maine-et-Loire, France

Guests here are often visited by The Green Lady, a woman who once lived in the castle. She cheated on her husband, who found the couple together and killed them both. Not only does she appear without eyes or a nose, but sometimes she’s seen pulling a sword from her chest.
Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, Quebec, Canada

Two ghosts haunt these halls. One is a 17th century governor who died here while waiting for his fiancée, and the other is a lady who wears a white dress and tends to climb into bed with guests.
Hotel del Coronado, San Diego, California

Young and beautiful Kate Morgan came here in 1892 to meet with lover. But that man never came, and she shot herself in the hotel, never to leave again. People see her in the halls, in the gift shop and along the shore.
Grand Hyatt Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan

Built on the grounds of a former prison where many executions took place, guests now report hearing strange noises, seeing ghostly inmates, and objects moving on their own.
Castle Leslie, Glaslough, Ireland

The Leslie family lived here or more than 300 years—and it looks like some of them never left, particularly Norman Leslie, who died in the military. He’s said to show up at the foot of the bed in his old room.
The Langham, London, England

Built in 1865 and often thought of as the most haunted building in London, this hotel is haunted by five ghosts who regularly make appearances to guests. Common occurrences include cold spots, full-body apparitions and sinks turning on by themselves. Room 333 is especially scary—stay at your own risk.
