Emirates Celebrates 25 Million Skywards Members With 25% Off

Emirates Skywards is celebrating reaching 25 million program members with all kinds of discounts on award flights, upgrades and purchased miles, to name a few.

Classic Rewards Flights with 25% Discount

Current Skywards members or those who join the program by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 19 (Dubai time) will receive a 25% discount on Emirates-operated mileage flights to or from Dubai booked on Emirates.com. Travel must start on or after Sept. 12 and be completed by Dec. 12. Make sure to book before the clocks strike midnight on Sept. 19 (Dubai time) to lock in the discounted rate.

Only Classic Rewards flights qualify. For example, you can book a round-trip business-class flight between John F. Kennedy International Airport and Dubai International Airport for as few as 108,750 Skywards miles. Outside of promo terms, the same award requires 145,000 Skywards miles.

Keep in mind that Emirates charges high fuel surcharges on its own award tickets, so you’ll be responsible for covering $1,723 in addition to redeeming miles.

If you don’t have any Emirates Skywards Miles in your account, don’t worry. It’s possible to transfer American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Venture Miles and Chase Ultimate Rewards points into the program.

Get 25% Off Mileage Upgrades

Redeeming Skywards Miles for an upgraded cabin of service on a paid ticket isn’t a bad way of using them. You can upgrade your economy seat to business class or a business seat to first class at a discounted rate. Mileage rates vary on the city pair and class of service. Make sure to upgrade your ticket at a discount by Sept. 19.

Buy or Gift Miles for 25% Less

Purchasing miles speculatively is never advised, but if you need to top off your account for a specific redemption and you’ve exhausted your aforementioned flexible point balances, this could be a way to score an award ticket. You may purchase up to 100,000 miles even if you have already reached the annual limit on purchased miles this calendar year. You’ll receive a 25% discount on purchasing Skywards Miles for yourself or someone else by Oct. 2.

Special Rates on Cash + Miles Redemptions

Book an Emirates or a flydubai flight using a combination of cash and Skywards Miles and receive a special rate of $25 for every 2,500 miles redeemed. In this case, each mile is worth 1 cent apiece. Regularly, Cash + Miles tickets don’t have a set conversion rate, which can vary by route, season and fare cabin.

Win Prizes at Dubai International Airport

In addition to all the discounts, travelers who pass through Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 between Sept. 22 and Sept. 29 should look out for a special sticker on their luggage. Twenty-five lucky passengers per day will win lounge passes, bonus miles, vouchers good toward chauffeur services and other prizes from partners.
