Meet Fred Finn, the World’s Most Frequent Flyer

A British frequent flyer has retained his title record for the most traveled air miles for the 32nd consecutive year.

Think you’ve racked up a lot of frequent flyer miles? When it comes to air travel, retired businessman Fred Finn, 74, beats out even the most elite flyers.

Finn was once again named by the 2015 Guinness Book of World Records as having “the most air miles flown by a person,” a title he has held since his travel log was first verified in 1983. Speaking with HuffPost Live, Finn said he’s flown to 150 countries and logged over 16 million miles.

Finn has logged his travels over the past several years and maintains an active blog where he posts about the cities he visits and planes he flies on. Retiring in 1995, Finn launched a consulting business where he endorses multinational companies, “which continues to satisfy his thirst for travel,” reports the Daily Mail.

Finn says he took his first flight when he was 18 years old, traveling from an airfield in Hampshire to New York. For nearly 60 years, Finn has kept a record of every plane and train he’s been on, whether for business or pleasure. He told HuffPost Live that his travel recognition isn’t just about the miles traveled, but it’s also significant that he’s actually explored the countries he’s visited.

“Every country I’ve been to, I’ve actually either worked in or stayed there,” said Finn. “I think layovers in airports are hardly business in the country. You’ve gotta (sic) go out into the country and see it to say that you’ve been there.”

Finn now lives with his wife in Ukraine. Still flying, he told HuffPost Live he claims to be “the number one writer on TripAdvisor,” with an estimated 43,000 followers.

Wow! That's more than 285,000 miles every year. Since I'm 70, I suspect I won't catch up. And, I hope he lives in WESTERN Ukraine or else speaks Russian!

Very impressive, I want to be like Fred when I grow up. Any idea of his profession? I assume business travel took him a good portion of the way.

I trust his list of countries are real countries, and not Century Club countries. ;)
