Careful: The Latest Airline Rewards Scams Look Very Real
Phishing scammers have been busy this week. There are two, surprisingly authentic-looking scams that have been making the rounds. Have you spotted either of these?
Delta
First, Delta SkyMiles accountholders were targeted with e-mails claiming “Subject: Your Delta SkyMiles Account will be closed.” And, as this photo from Renes Points points out, the e-mails look pretty real.

It’s just the kind of e-mail that unsuspecting users might panic and click on. But Renes Points has a few tips on how to check your account just in case without clicking on any phishing links.
British Airways
This British Airways scam popped up pretty recently via the messaging platform WhatsApp. What’s particularly tricky about this one is that the url looks exactly like the real one, except for a tiny dot below the “t.”:

If free British Airways tickets to any destination in the world doesn’t immediately seem to good to be true and you don’t notice the terrible grammar (making ESL users extra vulnerable), that url is clever enough to trick quite a few people into handing over their data.
