Volaris May Remove Reclining Seats From New Airbus Jets

In an effort to cut operational expenses, budget airline Volaris is allegedly considering using non-reclining seats in their dozens of newly ordered Airbus jets. The thinking behind this consideration is apparently that the addition of devices that allow seats to recline add more weight to the aircraft, and that aircraft can be made more fuel-efficient with the reduction of weight aboard the flight.

Since I rarely recline my own seat, I'd welcome an aircraft which prohibits the person in the seat in front of me from putting his seat back in my face. Of course the unspoken part of this is likely that they'll put the seats still closer together so by default, I'll have a seat back in my face. Oh, well.

To make the planes even lighter, they may also consider removing the food trays, hence the food trolleys on LCAs as very few people actually eat on these flights. I am sure lot of other "useless" things can be removed to make planes even lighter!
