Airports Introduce Pet Relief Stations

At an increasing number of airports, passengers traveling with service dogs, emotional support animals or pets can now allow their furry companions to relieve themselves prior to flying at stations located near hotel terminals. Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is the latest to add this feature, and Gert-Jan de Graaff of JFKIAT commented, “We recognize the growing presence of animals in our terminal, and the significant increase in passengers traveling with pets, and we wanted to provide owners with a convenient location to relieve their animals without having to exit the terminal.” The station comes complete with decorative paw prints, a fake fire hydrant, artificial grass, waste bags and a hand-washing station for passengers.

Perhaps they should filter out the fake emotional support animals.

IAD added two of these several years ago. One in the middle of the A/B concourse, and another in the middle of the C/D concourse. I've noticed that they get lots of use - and the owners do a very good job of cleaning up after using them.

This is wonderful. So much easier than having to leave the airport. Especially if you have a tight connection. I don't have a certification for my dog, pay on board fee. Cost about as much as an airline ticket. Great to see airports acknowledging the pets!
