Alaska Volcano Shoots 20,000 Foot Ash
A volcanic eruption in Alaska sent ash 20,000 feet up in the air and prompted flight warnings, according to authorities. The Pavlof Volcano, located on the Aleutian Islands, began "erupting abruptly" Sunday afternoon, according to the Alaska Volcano Observatory.
On Sunday afternoon, the Pavlof Volcano located on the Aleutian Islands suddenly erupted, blowing ash 20,000 feet into the air, causing flight warnings for aircraft in the vicinity. A volcano alert warning was in effect until Monday morning, and the aviation warning color code remains red. According to the volcano observatory, ash was seen moving north following the eruption. The Pavlof Volcano last erupted in November of 2014.
