American Airlines: Art Enemy?

Art insurance company Lloyd’s of London is suing American Airlines as well as seven other art handling companies for Breach of Contract and Negligence after a Lucio Fontana sculpture worth $196,000 was damaged while being transported during a commercial flight. The expensive slash sculpture was being shipped from Paris to an art show in New York when it was damaged during transport. The suit names Elite Systematic Arts and MainFreight in the U.S.; CDG Handling, ARC Transport, World Freight and Socièté Nouvelle Cornu Emballeurs in France; and Kraft ELS AG as defendants, and Lloyd’s of London seeks $116,000 to cover damages and legal fees.

It looks like a gigantic rabbit poop. Was that crack in it before or after it got damaged? I can't tell. :)

This is news? This is what insurance if for. If AA winds up taking the fall their insurer will pay. End of story. And, yes, it is art.
