Swedish airspace was closed for over an hour Wednesday after a solar storm interfered with the country’s air traffic control systems. The storm reportedly created troubles in the Earth’s magnetic field therefore disturbing Sweden’s radar installations.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesman Per Froberg said flights vanished from radar screens during the disruption.

“We’re working on sorting out the delays,” said Froberg, who also noted that it’s unclear why the incident was so concentrated.
