“Technical Fault” Prompts Diversion

Ryanair Flight 5842 from Greece to the Netherlands was forced to divert to Frankfurt–Hahn Airport (HHN) Monday following a “technical fault” with the 737-800. A statement from the airline confirmed the occurrence, claiming the “fault” – an in-flight depressurization – did warrant the deployment of oxygen masks.

No injuries were reported, and Ryanair apologized for the delay.

“The aircraft landed normally, customers disembarked and Ryanair engineers worked to return the aircraft to service,” read a portion of the Ryanair statement. “A spare aircraft was positioned from Dublin to operate this flight and Ryanair sincerely apologised to its customers for this delay.”

I'm surprised that Ryanair didn't charge all the pax for the Oxygen usage and additional fuel for the replacement equipment...

This was a particularly long delay, which under Ryanair policies merited a passenger compensation form of "sincere apology". Shorter delays usually merit a "insincere apology", while minor ones usually result in "rude words".
