TalkBoard is a User Advisory Council consisting of members of the community whose purpose is to provide input regarding FlyerTalk feature requests, action requests that fall outside the scope of established policies and procedures, and general user issues as may be directed to them by the FlyerTalk member population.

The board meets quarterly via a private room on FlyerTalk Live!, and conducts an in-person meeting once a year. Minutes of the TalkBoard meetings are made available to the community on the FlyerTalk Web site. The minutes may be edited to protect individual user identity and privacy.

The TalkBoard consists of 10 members, four of whom are selected by the current hosts of FlyerTalk and the remaining six chosen by popular vote of the active FlyerTalk members. The slate of FlyerTalk members who have agreed to be considered for an elected post are confirmed by personal interviews with the FlyerTalk host prior to being named to the ballot. The host of FlyerTalk may choose to select four members of the board from those who are considering the elected post or by private choice.

Of the initial six members chosen by popular vote, one must be based and resident outside of North America. The same is true of those selected by the host of FlyerTalk; one must be based and resident outside of North America. The board will attempt to recognize the diverse membership and interests of the FlyerTalk community.

Board members represent a variety of member interests, which are not always "frequent flyer." Members serve one year terms.

Voting mechanisms and limitations on subsequent terms are as follows: Voting will take place annually on the anniversary of FlyerTalk (month of May) and all active members will be notified via a board announcement and email. A private voting page will be made available with candidate names, user names, and appropriate background information. Members who are voted to the board by the general membership or appointment may serve an unlimited number of successive terms.
