My Blue Heaven at My Blue Hotel in Tanzania

Nungwi beach is known for its white sand, crystal clear water and swaying palm fronds. Gorgeous floral landscapes make Ora Resort My Blue Hotel one of the most visited resorts in Tanzania. Getting there is not complicated but can be a bit of an adventure. The international airport is in Stone Town and from there you can take a private coach, taxi, bus or, what’s most preferred, the beach taxi which will take you directly to the resort. Of course, if you’re visiting Zanzibar from the mainland of Tanzania, you can always take the ferry or a catamaran across.

When you arrive to the My Blue Hotel, expect to be greeted in island fashion. Although the Ora Resort is operated by an Italian corporation and Italian is spoken throughout, the polyglot staff will attend to your every request cheerfully, making certain that your stay is both enjoyable and memorable.

Guest rooms and suites are spacious and provide everything you may need for your holiday: ceiling fans, mosquito netting, black-out drapes and a well-stocked mini bar. Complimentary Internet connection allows you to stay in touch with the rest of the world, or brag about your fantastic holiday in Nungwi. Wireless Internet is available at the pool bar for a surcharge.

Furnishings are in keeping with the local flair, giving off a touch of an island feel. And the bathroom houses a soaking tub that will call to you at the end of the day and guide you to relaxation. Meanwhile, a majestic sun setting on the horizon waits for your approval just outside the patio as you breathe deeply the floral fragrance in the air from the garden and you ponder how to spend the day.

The grounds are impeccably manicured and lead to a lagoon-style pool and Jacuzzi, perfect for a late afternoon or early evening dip. Spend the afternoon lounging under one of the umbrellas on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore, while sipping your favorite tropical drink.

Fishing enthusiasts will find the deep-sea fishing in this area extraordinary with sailfish, tuna and marlin aplenty. Unfortunately, there are also sharks in the waters around Zanzibar. It’s not unusual to see Hammerhead and Tiger sharks in the waters, especially when deep-sea fishing. A colorful world awaits you just below the water’s surface. Deep-water diving and snorkeling are available for those who like to explore the depths of the sea. Meander down the beach to the local village where you’ll discover little shops of handcrafted items including jewelry, art and decorative linens.

The restaurant hosts an international flavor and includes many dishes of local cuisine. Decorated in handcrafted furnishings, there’s an ethnic feel, with colorful table linens, thatch ceiling and crystal-hanging lighting. After dinner, guests often make their way to the beach to watch the spectacular ceremony of dance and song, as an offering of traditions long ago. You might even be invited to participate in the festivities.
