Delta Matches Change Fee Increases of United and US Airways

April 30, 2013 by Brian Cohen

This song parody is simply a different way to spread the news pertaining to the increase in change fees on Delta Air Lines from $150.00 to $200.00 in some markets and from $250.00 to $300.00 in other markets, matching similar increases in change fees of United Airlines and US Airways. I offer no apology to re-writing the lyrics to Delta Dawn, which is the title of a song originally recorded and co-written by Alex Harvey in 1971…

Border-Crossing Fees to the United States From Canada?

April 28, 2013 by Brian Cohen

Each year, millions of people use a variety of modes of transportation to enter the United States through scores of checkpoints over approximately 5,525 miles of border — the longest international border in the world shared between the same two countries over both land and water — which the United States shares with Canada. The checkpoints are manned by federal employees who check the documentation of each person entering the United States — and, of course, the salaries and benefits paid to those employees are only two of the items which cost money to operate border crossings. Especially as a result of the current sequestration budget cuts, it may come as no surprise and little wonder that included in a budget proposal for 2014...

April 25, 2013 by Brian Cohen

I know I have been rather negative regarding the commercial aviation industry in general — perhaps deservedly so. However, I also like to write about heartwarming stories such as this one that will probably move even the most cynical of people pertaining to their perception of airlines. More specifically, it is about how employees of Delta Air Lines literally rummaged through garbage in order to reunite a boy with the shirt of his deceased father. Brian Holzer wore the shirt in question while hanging decorative lights for the Christmas holiday at home in North Dakota in 2010 — only to die at the age of 34 as a result of...

I Will Tip When I Darn Well Feel Like It

April 26, 2013 by Brian Cohen

The majority of FlyerTalk members who responded regarding two articles posted recently at The Lobby have been leaving scathing comments. One article is about why you absolutely must tip at a hotel property; and the other article responded to the overwhelming amount of bluntly critical comments posted by FlyerTalk members — which in and of itself received its own share of vociferously trenchant rebuttals. It is no wonder that...

Change Fees Increase on US Airways to Match United Airlines

April 24, 2013 by Brian Cohen

This song parody is simply a different way to spread the news pertaining to the increase in change fees on US Airways from $150.00 to $200.00 in some markets and from $250.00 to $300.00 in other markets, matching similar increases in change fees of United Airlines. I offer no apology to re-writing the lyrics to Parker’s Band, which is the title of a song from the Pretzel Logic album by Steely Dan in 1974 for MCA Records, Inc., which is now Universal Music Group...

Will The 3-Hour Tarmac Delay Rule Be Suspended? Say NO!

April 24, 2013 by Brian Cohen

The Department of Transportation in the United States is currently reviewing a motion filed by two airline industry associations which are requesting a moratorium on a rule first imposed in 2009 pertaining to protecting passengers from being confined in an airplane on the tarmac for greater than three hours during a delay. The request...
