Malév Bankruptcy: An Uncertain Future

Malév Hungarian Airlines has serious financial problems, as it is now in bankruptcy protection despite attempts by the Hungarian government to protect the airline from bankruptcy proceedings.

The European Commission ruled last month that aid previously given by the Hungarian government to keep Malév in business was not legitimate, which reportedly forced the airline to repay approximately €340 million — money which Malév simply does not have.
