Amtrak and Continental Airlines Part Ways; Amtrak and United Airlines to Form New Partnership

An update on the Amtrak partnership with Continental Airlines by FlyerTalk member and official company representative AGR Insider reveals that the points-to-miles and miles-to-points transfers between Amtrak Guest Rewards and Continental Airlines OnePass frequent flier loyalty program will end on December 31, 2011. Transfers and redemptions between the two programs must be completed prior to the deadline. However, through March 2012, Amtrak Guest Rewards members will still be eligible to earn points on flights operated by Continental Airlines.

However, the good news is that a new partnership between Amtrak and United Airlines is reportedly in the works, as Amtrak Guest Rewards members will be able to earn points on flights operated by United Airlines beginning in March 2012.

Select Plus members with a valid Select Plus member card will have access to United Clubs through February 2012. Details beyond February 2012 are yet to be known at this time, but members will be updated by Amtrak Guest Rewards.

Darn it! It never happened! It would be nice if (at least the Select) members could transfer Amtrak points to United miles 1:1 as before!
