FlyerTalk members who are Diamond Medallion SkyMiles members or high-value customers of Delta Air Lines may have a new service awaiting them at the conclusion of at least some of their flights at the international airport in Atlanta, as FlyerTalk member rammer reports, “Delta picked me up in a Porsche.”
At first, fellow FlyerTalk members thought it was a joke. However, there are reports that several models of Porsche automobiles have been spotted on the tarmac at the international airport in Atlanta, with a possible sighting at the international airport in Tampa.
FlyerTalk members speculate that this service may be the result of a marketing agreement between Porsche and Delta Air Lines — especially since Porsche is moving its North American headquarters and operations to the abandoned Ford Motor Company assembly plant in Hapeville, right next to the international airport in Atlanta, which just happens to be south of the world headquarters of Delta Air Lines.
This service is not a new idea by any means — Lufthansa supposedly pioneered this service for its best high-value customers, followed by Air France and, to a certain extent, British Airways — but it could be a first of its kind in North America.
Delta Air Lines has yet to post an official public announcement confirming that this is indeed a new service, along with its details…
